Hey Friends, I’m back with another blog post from Oregon, USA. Read about my travels to New York City in a fresh news article on SURVIVAL BROS. I competed against famous YouTuber Eric “Badlands Chugs” Booker in a Lemonade Chugoff for Major League Eating and Nathan’s Famous in Brooklyn, NY. Even with a weather delay we pulled off the show. Here’s more about my trip to America’s Playground.

Survival Bros pulls over to look at an Outdoor Community Food Panty! Have you seen one of these pantries in your neighborhood? If not, maybe you should make one for less fortunate people. It is the season for giving. So be creative, and generous during the Holidays. Like our video on YouTube for us, comment, and share this blog post with your friends. Thanks for being here.
Watch a Survival Bros score a Free Lunch at Costco. I joked with the CDS Demonstrators as I took my portions. It was only a 14-Course meal this time. We missed a few vendors because they ran out of goods, or were cleaning up at the end of the day. Have you taken this many samples in the store? SB didn’t need pizza at The Deli after this challenging record attempt. Which way to the bathroom? Survival Bros got gas in bulk. Filmed the day before the Super Bowl in Warrenton, Oregon. Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for more crazy videos. Thanks for watching!
Survival Bros combs The Woods, and identifies a King Bolete, or Porcini Mushrooms in Oregon! Hunted in the Clatsop County forest near the Pacific Ocean. I foraged, dried, and ate them for a meal off the land. Dried fungi will last a very long time in your kit. Many more Adventures coming…
In this HD video, I show you how to get free food samples at any Safeway Grocery Store simply by asking. First stop; The Bakery. I scored a chocolate chip cookie, and a rich brownie with fudge frosting by using little effort. Getting this freebie was child’s play, but the complementary grub isn’t available only for the kids, as you may have thought. I use this method on most of my visits to large retailers. The bakers told me they give out 10-15 trays of 45 count cookies daily. So claim your grub, and don’t let free calories go uneaten. Also of note, The Bakery is on my way from the back of the grocery store, where I check the half off sale items anyways.
Free samples and bargains can be had, even at the most expensive Safeway in America, located in my hometown of Seaside, Oregon. I do this wild stuff to offset the cost of my calorie intake, and for my own sick amusement. I want to get the maximum out of any given situation, like I did in this social experiment. The employees are typically really generous, and don’t mind my request. A friend and I once got three types of no cost cookies for each person asking. So we enjoyed a variety of desserts for free to enjoy while filling my cart. Share your comments below on urban scavenging. In this photo I show off my huge haul of three roast beef pieces after politely requesting to try some red meat at the deli counter. This was enough flesh for a hearty sandwich, but I ate it in store, and even shared some with another shopper! Push the limit, and ask to sample each and every appetizing food type behind the glass. It’s the education you need to become a smarter shopper.
Survival Bros gets 26 different free samples in his local Costco shopping center on HD video. This total number doesn’t reflect when Cam swooped up multiple trial bites of the same item. You’re allowed to take more than one, as long as it’s on the tray. All of this complementary grub made a full meal, but he is still hungry. Cam didn’t even purchase any stuff, and doesn’t have a Costco membership card. Get access with a Costco Gift Card, then sample up, or buy an inexpensive meal at the food court deli.
Try going at the end of the day for extra samples. They are trying to get rid of the products before closing time. What’s your favorite line from this production? Leave a comment. More crazy adventures coming on this blog. Cheers.
Learn which individual servings or samples of condiments, and sauce you can find for free. Do some urban scavenging like me. Stockpile packets of ketchup, salsa, candy, and more items for storage. My favorite package seen in the video is the lemon juice. I forgot to mention it. You can find just about any free food packet out there. I have a secret sauce floating around my van somewhere from Burger King. I think I eat out more for condiments than the fast food itself.
Having these sauces, and sugars, etc. on hand saves money. Take food packets like the ones shown on your next camping trip for extra spice, or flavor in your meal. Get free condiments as seen on Survival Bros at restaurants, and convenience stores. If something isn’t priced, it must be available to take.
Do you stockpile packets like I do? I feel like such a rebel when my pockets are full, and I’ve made a clean getaway with the loot.
Car camping is one of my favorite blog topics. I hope you find it interesting too. Here’s a checklist of my top foods to store in your vehicle. Many items instantly turn into grub by adding hot water. I got ideas for the perfect van dwelling foods by watching YouTube videos of Thru Hikers packing for their long distance trips. Search for Pacific Crest Trail aka PCT, or Appalachian Trail Backpackers online.
Ziplock bags are a trusted way to keep organized. You can even write on the outside with a permanent pen to label things. Plus, plastic sacks maintain some protection from water, rats, an other elements. Let me know if you have any questions about my setup. Add several gallons of distilled and spring water (not pictured), and I’m ready to go off the grid for weeks. I’m stocked up on:
Honey with ginseng, bee pollen, and royal jelly
Drinks: water, aloe water, coconut beverages, teas, fruit juices
Soups in cans to heat and serve, and powdered packets
Protein Powder, plus various green powders (wheat grass)
Pasta Sides, and Dishes like Top Ramen
Dehydrated Food such as Mountain House Freeze Dried Meals (Apple Crisp is my favorite)
Fruit: Fresh Produce like apples and bananas, also fruit strips, bottles, and cans
Nuts and Seeds like Almond and Hemp
Granola Bars, and Oatmeal
Instant Coffee, instant milk
Condiments: Packets of butter, salsa, pepper, salt, raw sugar, mayonnaise, ketchup, and everything else Free and Holy
Canned meats: Flavored tuna, Spam, Chicken Salad with crackers
I’m all about my freebies. Maybe you remember all of the product samples I’ve scored, and blogged about in the past. You can get free stuff easily by requesting trials online, and they will be delivered to you by mail. When I’m not filling out forms like that, I’m in shops trying to get hook ups. In Starbucks this week they were sampling out pasteries. They weren’t on display yet. The stash was sitting off into the corner on the counter, with a Manager’s note saying “Sample these.” I politely asked an employee if I could have one of the items. There was all sorts of muffins, bars, and scones to pick from. On day one I took the pink cake filled lolly pops with sprinkles. I didn’t eat them in public.
I went back to the coffee shop for more samples the next day, just in case they were still available. Really, I just needed the WiFi to upload my previous video. I scored the squishy coffee cake that day, but didn’t stop there. I requested 3 honey packets too, since they don’t put those out at all Starbucks locations. I swiped a few raw sugar packets as well. Plus, I saw another sign saying I can request a free sample beverage using their coffee pods if I asked. When I mentioned it, the worker said they haven’t used that set up to brew complimentary cups of fresh java lately, even though the machine, and sample pods where still on the front counter. I didn’t have time for them to pretend to look for an extension cord, so I took samples for later consumption.
I like to visit the health food store weekly, and my last trip was really worth it. They always have free tablets of Vitamin C to help yourself to, but there was more. I found packets of food-grade Diatomaceous Earth, Natural Calm magnesium mixes in three flavors, Barlean’s Greens, one DHA pill, and a bag of tea. These individually wrapped servings are perfect for my backpacking trips, and the small emergency caches I like to build to prepare for tsunamis. If I can swoop up all of these freebies, than so can you. Ask for a nibble when you’re in the food court, or browsing the deli counter at the grocery store. It’s fun to see what you can get for asking. Happy hunting Survival Bros.
These cake pops were amazing!
