This week I did something wild!  I pushed my limits, and enjoyed eight zip lines on the Oregon Coast in Warrenton.  I’d never attempted anything like this adventure.  It got my heart rate up, and made me scream to the top of my lungs.

Watch me zip down the fastest line there called Huckleberry on The Survival Bros YouTube Channel

Enjoy a gallery of my photographs from my trip to High Life Adventures:

My tour group of eight people took around three hours to complete the course.  We had two local, and friendly guides.  They communicated with small radios attached to their harness.  One guide would go first, then use a rope to gently bring them to a controlled stop.  The female went last, and was responsible for securing us properly.  You don’t have to walk much in between the routes.  In fact, they have a 4×4 vehicle if you want to use it, or get spooked and need a ride back to the parking lot early.

Jumping from the observation tower is intense.  There are three different lines from that point, on two levels.  SPOILER ALERTS: You get a cookie and a juice box halfway through the tour, plus spring water.  Soon they will have a wood stove operational for the brutal winter months, and a wind turbine on top.  Also, be on the lookout for Sasquatch.  I just saved you a heart attack, and/or a lawsuit.  I threw a legit left jab to the face of the masked man, and nearly delivered a swift leg kick before realizing I wasn’t in danger.  Fortunately, when he sneaks up, you’re still locked to the zip line, and can’t fully attack!

I would highly recommend going on this zip line tour.  It costs $99, and you can also try THE ZWING, their extreme zip swing.  I did, and got a high-visibility rubber bracelet as a souvenir.  The add-on is $29 more, but worth it, if you can keep down your cookie.  I was attached to a longer, 20-foot rope, and jumped off the side of the tower instead of from the middle like most of the group.  So I flew 40 feet across, and then dropped towards the lake, on the 1200′ long cable.  I screamed like Bigfoot, and was definitely the loudest in the group.  I look forward to zip lining again soon, and possibly filming even more.  Honestly, this would be a hard hobby to master.  The easiest way to stay facing forward is to hold your line towards the top of the connection.

Going into a bank to take free food and drink without being a Member.  I scored moist cookies, enough coffee, tea, and sugar packets for the road.  Would you get freebies like this to survive and thrive in an urban environment?  The grub was sitting on a platter near the window on Commercial St.  Of course that’s my calories.  You can get free suckers at financial institutions too.  Plus, visit a Tire Center, or Hardware Store for free popcorn to go.  Coming soon on HD video – see all of the free product samples I took from Health Food Stores.

I’ve been on the hunt at local thrift shops for a bargain.  After scouring the Eugene/Springfield, Oregon area I hauled in fresh gear, and saved a wad of money buying items second hand.  However, most of the swag mentioned in this HD video production is new.  I’ve been popping tags.  I hope to use these pieces backpacking, vandwelling, and as essential Every Day Carry items.

Nike SFB Tan Boots

I found a new pair of Nike Special Field Boots or SFB at St. Vinnie’s.  They retail online for $140 or more, if you can locate your size.  I had hoped they were size 12’s when I spotted them on display.  It was my lucky day, because they were a match for me.  The desert tan kicks had been marked $29.99, but were half off that day.  I got the shoes for $14.99!  I’ve been wanting this exact pair of 8 inch high military style boots.  Here’s the male equivalent of girls wearing Uggs in public.  I get lots of compliments on them.  No I haven’t served, but I train with soldiers.

Mechanix MPACT gloves

I lost one of my all black Mechanix M-PACT Covert gloves bouncing around town celebrating New Years.  So, now I’m breaking in another pair of work gloves that I had for backup.  I like wearing them while biking, or even driving my Volkswagen Vanagon.  This brightly colored safety wear is men’s size Large.  Newer versions fit even better.  I also like that they dry out quickly in the sun.

Here’s my other videos on thrift store shopping.  I’ve found some treasures, and I look forward to going back into the city to discover what else I can’t live without.  Thanks for supporting the blog.  Visit again shortly.  I have lots of wacky videos in the works.  Have a great Spring Break, and Summer!

Survival Bros gets 26 different free samples in his local Costco shopping center on HD video.  This total number doesn’t reflect when Cam swooped up multiple trial bites of the same item.  You’re allowed to take more than one, as long as it’s on the tray.  All of this complementary grub made a full meal, but he is still hungry.  Cam didn’t even purchase any stuff, and doesn’t have a Costco membership card.  Get access with a Costco Gift Card, then sample up, or buy an inexpensive meal at the food court deli.

Try going at the end of the day for extra samples.  They are trying to get rid of the products before closing time.  What’s your favorite line from this production?  Leave a comment.  You can also subscribe at the top left to get free articles delivered to your email inbox.  Survival Bros doesn’t Spam, but we do store it just in case.  Mmmmm.  More crazy adventures coming on this blog.  Cheers.

Check out the vintage bike frame I was given for FREE.  I’ve always wanted an old school Specialized Rockhopper, so I had to fix it up, and ride.  The bicycle needed some TLC.  I bought new handlebars for $1, rubber grips, a back tube and tire, plus located a matching racing seat and post.  It must be a 1989, or 1990 Specialized, featuring Shimano Deore LX components.  The original matching wheels came with.

Survival Bros also pressure washed everything, to get the road grim off.  Just had to share the photos with the fans.  I haven’t seen this bike, this nice, anywhere online in my searching.  I sold the restored project for $150.  Funny part was, the buyer showed up in a classic Volkswagen Vanagon like mine, so we had lots to talk about, and share.  This bike was just too small for me, with a 17 inch frame, it’s best suited for a teen.  It went to a good home, and freed up space inside my van.  More cycling projects being blogged about soon.

After watching this HD video guide, you’ll know the type of stuff in a Bug-Out Bag.  His example works for his needs.  People create these emergency preparedness backpacks with survival gear just in case of a disaster.  It’s important to have supplies like these items listed handy.  Keep them secure.

Survival Bros Challenge:  Make an emergency Go Bag kit like this, and give it to a loved one.  Have fun making a backpack.  Please share this video with a friend, comment, and like.

See what car living is like for a gypsy travelling on the road in HD video.  I think he has a great gear setup for van dwelling.  I’m jealous of his sink, with a clever gravity fed water system, harnessing an inexpensive solar shower.  Plus, his lighting setup works, and didn’t cost much, thanks to a trip to Dollar Tree.  You can’t tell Hugh is in there either, since it’s a cargo van without side rear windows.  The dark exterior paint color blend into the darkness, making him more stealth.  I like what he has done to insulate the metal sides with cardboard and aluminum tape.  Hugh knows the cardboard is organic material, and will eventually decompose, but it’s easy to replace with fresh insulation later.  Even the interior wall panels are stuffed with recycled shopping bags for added warmth.  We list all of the car camping items for you to spark your imagination, but is there anything you’d add to the recreational vehicle?  More van dwelling videos on the way.  Stay tuned to Survival Bros.
