Hey Friends,

Cam coming at you from the beach in Oregon.  #Seaside  I’m so glad you’re here to share with me.  Thanks for all the thoughtful comments, and please remember to SUBSCRIBE ON YOUTUBE TO #SURVIVALBROS  Watch our 300+ videos at no cost.  We now have 6,399 subscribers, and growing.  Thanks for participating.  I love this community of #backpackers #healers #preppers #activists #nolabels

It’s been a wild ride these past few years.  If you’ve been following my HD videos, I was #vandwelling for 2.5 years in my Volkswagen Vanagon.  I put many miles on her, riding the nugget from hot spring to couches, and cabins.  It’s a lifestyle I would go back to, but my survival situation has changed.

I bought a new van!  And it broke down.  Costing me a fortune.  Then I was on foot, and in a tent.  Winter hit.  I had challenges, and the weather was nasty.  It was the worst I’ve ever seen it in the #PNW  Now I have a place to stay, a fast car, a part-time job, and an office to make more videos and #Art.  I am very #blessed and grateful.

So here we are.  Standing strong in the chaos.  Better prepared.

What do I want to do next?  Stay tuned.

Hello Friends,

In this Survival Bros vlog I visit a gym to use a free trial membership.  Really, I just wanted to use the sauna and shower at no cost.  I encourage you to ask more, and see what you can get in life.

Using an infrared sauna will get rid of toxins, open pores, and relax tense muscles.  It was hot as Vegas, but I loved IT.  I lasted 25 minutes.  No idea what the temperature was!  After this I drove my new Mustang to Portland to hustle at pawn shops and thrift stores.  I forget what I found…but I’ll find it again.  ha

Best Wishes from Oregon,

cam-hugs-rickCam with Rick McCrank – host of VICELAND’S Abandoned in Astoria, Oregon

Oregonian Cameron McKirdy appears on VICELAND’s “Abandoned.”  It’s a new travel documentary type show featuring deserted places.  I guided the VICE TV crew around our area, and shared my story.  Producers from British Columbia, Canada filmed the host, Professional Skateboarder Rick McCrank and I discussing preparations for a nuclear disaster, and a tsunami.  VICE and I took my Volkswagon van for a ride along the ocean in Long Beach, Washington looking for shelter, plus debris from the 2011 Japanese tsunami.  Over two days we built emergency preparedness kits with ammo boxes to bury in the ground along escape routes, like I have shown on my YouTube Channel called Survival Bros.  We scavenged free health food samples from A Gypsy’s Whimsy, and purchased essential gear items to cache at more stores located in Astoria and Seaside, OR.  The #survival kit I helped McCrank build should help him endure a disaster if he keeps it close by.  I always have my emergency Go-Bag with me.

ON AIR you should see me (Cam The Cuddler) hugging people and chatting about my life as a certified professional cuddler.  Check out his CuddleLife Blog for more information and to read my FAQs.  I offer a platonic touch service, and I’m open to trades and donations.  Typically I get one dollar per minute to care for people.  I believe cuddling is therapeutic, and a fun and safe way to get the positive human touch we all need to survive.

A labyrinth is reflective space where you can notice changes in your thinking.  Perhaps you can look at a situation, and see it in a new light.  Find a labyrinth using this locator website.  Tell #SurvivalBros what you think about these amazing works of Art.  Combining both the best of Philosophy and Nature.

This week I got up early and drove the Volkswagen Vanagon out to the legendary Goodwill Outlet near the Portland International Airport, or PDX.  I slept nearby, for free, in the Shari’s Resturant parking lot.  As a hustler, I knew I had to get to Goodwill before the place opens up at 8 AM.  I had my smartphone on me, charged, to scan barcodes, and research items online.  I used the eBay, and Amazon applications for quick access to information.

It was a feeding frenzy inside.  No time to shoot video when you’re trying to make money.  Goodwill charges only $1.67 per pound for most anything, besides CDs, DVDs, and stuff in the display case, as far as I know.  At the end, you roll your shopping cart onto a scale, like weighing your vehicle at a garbage dump.  You’ll see my thrifting haul in the HD Survival Bros video below.  I had to dig threw a bunch of trash to find anything acceptable for potential reselling, and keeping.  You will get your hands dirty.  Try to avoid piss blankets, and scan everything with your eyes to make less work for yourself.  My strategies netted me a Phillips Norelco electric razor, Wii video game, Levis flannel shirt, wall charger, scarf, two GPS units by Garmin and Magellen, fanny back for ultralight backpacking, and a Nike Max Air backpack.  I think I did excellent considering I spent just $7.44.
